The historic sweetness of the English Midlands.
The Muntons Premium Midland Mild Ale kit allows you to brew 23 litres of an authentic and accessible beer, coming in at approximately 4% ABV. With its dark amber hue and very low bitterness, it is the ultimate "session beer" for those who prefer malt over hops.

Malty profile and smoothness
This Midland Mild focuses entirely on the richness of the grain. Unlike Bitters or IPAs, the bitterness here is very restrained, allowing notes of caramel, biscuit, and hazelnut to shine through. The Premium malt extract used by Muntons provides a silky mouthfeel despite the moderate alcohol content. It is a balanced, sweet, and comforting beer, perfect for pairing with roasted dishes or mature cheeses.

Tips Experts :
-
Optimise the malt: The Mild Ale relies entirely on the grain. Replacing standard sugar with Amber or Medium Dried Malt Extract (DME) will transform your beer, giving it a much richer body and more pronounced caramel notes.
-
Water profile: If your local water is hard, that's an advantage here! It naturally helps highlight the maltiness typical of the English Midlands.
-
Serving: Serve this beer at "cellar temperature" (11°C - 14°C). If served too cold, its roasted malt aromas will be masked.
FAQ Flash :
-
Is it a dark beer? It is visually close to a light brown ale, but without the roasted bitterness of a Stout. It is much sweeter and rounder.
-
Can it be aged for a long time? As a low-alcohol beer, it is at its peak after 4 to 8 weeks in the bottle. It is not intended for long-term cellaring.
-
Why "Mild"? The term means "sweet" or "young," as historically these beers were less hopped than the older, more bitter "stale" ales.
