Comet Hops:

The Comet hops is a dual-purpose hop variety originating from the United States. It was created in 1974 by the USDA. It is the result of a cross between the English Sunshine hop and a native American hop, which gives it a certain "wild" character.

The aromatic profile of the Comet hops is based on a strong accent of grapefruit. It presents subtle herbal aromas and it is also quite resinous. It has solid bitterness capabilities and it is traditionally considered the best bittering agent for American-style lagers. However, recent years have shown an increase in its use as dry hop in ales and IPAs.
