WHC Lab: New must-have strains

Founded in 2017 by Philip Woodnutt and Tony O'Kane, this young company is based in Wicklow, Ireland. This ambitious and innovative laboratory develops customized yeasts for the hundreds of European breweries it works with. It also offers - in homebrew and professional formats - a range of dry and liquid strains with unique and original characteristics.

WHC Lab is a biotechnology company focused on the brewing and distilling industry. Established in 2017, the lab boasts best-in-class equipment and uses "next generation" methods to grow yeast and bacteria for brewing.

WHC boasts state-of-the-art equipment, including the Anton Paar density meter and the famous QPCR for genetic analysis :

We offer them a range of different services, from yeast and laboratory testing to enzymes, processing aids and technical advice. This collaboration enables us to constantly improve our yeast strains. WHC Lab yeasts :

The manufacturer's strains are fresh and highly viable, with over 200 billion cells. Simply introduce them directly into the must (especially for dry yeasts).

Liquid yeasts are freshly made. Orders are placed in advance, and the laboratory sends them out a few days after manufacture. They are therefore transported to our premises without breaking the cold chain.

The shelf life of liquid yeast sachets is three months. If your sample is more than two months old, we recommend using a starter to ensure successful fermentation. 

Whether dry or liquid, we strongly recommend storing your yeast in the refrigerator (0-4°C) to preserve its viability.

All WHC strains are original creations, giving their yeast a unique edge!
