Brew Pythagore: our French IPA recipe
Pythagore is a modern French IPA that highlights the hop duo Teorem and Barbe Rouge. The first brings notes of pineapple, citrus and spices; the second complements it with touches of raspberry and citrus. Combined with a refined malt base, they create an expressive beer, fruity and subtly spicy.
Rye (around 20%) reinforces the peppery/aniseed character of Teorem and adds depth. Lallemand Farmhouse yeast, used at 20 °C, provides good attenuation and a light phenolic profile that pairs perfectly with the hops. Golden Naked Oats add texture, roundness and a dense, slightly ivory foam.
The result: a highly drinkable and refreshing French IPA, with a present but controlled bitterness and a rich fruity and spicy aromatic profile.
Why choose this product?
- A duo of French hops with fruity and spicy aromas.
- A refined malt base for more texture and depth.
- A balanced, accessible and very enjoyable recipe.

Rolling Beers Tips
- For a crisper bitterness, aim for a water profile with 2 to 3× more sulfates than chlorides.
- A mash pH around 5.1 will highlight the dry and fruity side.
- Farmhouse yeast stays neutral at 20 °C: do not increase the temperature if you do not want a saison‑like profile.
- A 48‑hour cold crash improves clarity and aromatic stability.
