SafLager E‑30 is an innovative bottom‑fermenting strain designed for brewers who want to move away from the classic neutrality of traditional Lagers. Unlike standard strains, it promotes ester production, offering a richer sensory profile with nuances of white fruit and spring flowers. It is the ideal ally for Hoppy Lagers, India Pale Lagers (IPL) or modernized Pilsners, where it harmoniously complements the profile of aromatic hops. Its fermentation kinetics are robust, ensuring reliable attenuation even on dense worts.
Why choose this product?
- Distinctive Aromatic Profile: Provides rare fruity complexity for a bottom‑fermented strain, ideal for differentiating your Lager ranges.
- Temperature Versatility: Performs well across a wide temperature range (12°C – 20°C), allowing faster fermentations at higher temperatures if needed.
- Excellent Sedimentation: Promotes fast natural clarification after lagering, optimizing tank time and beer brightness.

Technical Tips
1. Ester Expression: To maximize the fruity and floral character of SafLager E‑30, ferment at the upper end of the range (15°C – 16°C). For a cleaner but still aromatic profile, stay around 12°C.
2. E2U Inoculation (Easy to Use): This strain does not require rehydration. In professional brewing, sprinkle directly into the fermenter during filling, provided the wort temperature is above 12°C.
3. Diacetyl Rest: As with any bottom‑fermented beer, plan a temperature rise of 2°C to 3°C at the end of fermentation (when 2–3 gravity points remain before FG) to ensure full reduction of sulfur compounds and diacetyl.
Technical FAQ
Can E‑30 be used for ambient‑temperature fermentation (hybrid Lager)?
Yes, its tolerance up to 18°C allows the production of “Steam Beer”‑style or warm‑fermented Lagers while maintaining bottom‑fermentation sedimentation.
How does it compare to W‑34/70?
W‑34/70 is the global reference for neutrality and balance. E‑30 is its aromatic opposite: it is chosen specifically to push fruity notes where W‑34/70 remains discreet.
