Simpsons DRC® Malt

The DRC malt Simpsons® (or Double Roasted Crystal) is unique due to its production process. With an EBC between 280 and 320, it can be used to substitute the most cooked crystal malts in dark beers where the astringency and bitterness inherent in very dark malts are not desired. This means that it can be used at a higher rate than a cara/crystal malt with a higher EBC that would bring the same aromas.

The DRC malt will add complex notes of intense caramel and dried fruits (plum and raisin) with a beautiful red-brown hue.

It can be used from 3% to 20% and will fit perfectly into powerful and dark styles like stouts, strong British ales, Belgian abbeys.
