Smoked Wheat Malt
.png)
The smoked wheat malt is carefully dried by the heat of beech wood, which gives it its unique flavor while maintaining its relatively light color. It can be used up to 15% in the composition.
It is traditionally used for Bamberg Rauchbier, a typical smoked beer from Germany. This malt pairs perfectly with any beer style where a soft smoky nuance and a complex flavor are sought. It can be integrated just as well in a smoked Weizen recipe as in a stout with a much more pronounced flavor. Despite its distinctive taste, this malt is actually very versatile.
It offers characteristic flavors of beech wood smoke, a malty/sweet touch as well as notes of honey and vanilla.
