What is a ball valve?
Ball valves are essential for managing the flow of liquids and gases in many brewery setups. These valves ensure reliable and efficient flow control.
This is a 3-way ball valve made of 304-grade stainless steel, all 1/2" BSP female. Please refer to the images for a more detailed description of what a T-port configuration means.
In general, these valves are composed of several essential components. The body consists of four parts: the ball, the seats, the stem, and the actuator.
The ball, made of metal, is the central element of the ball valve. Its interior is hollow, allowing fluid to flow when the valve is open. A 90-degree rotation of the stem closes the valve, thereby blocking the flow.
When the valve is closed, the seat, made of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), creates a tight seal against the ball, preventing any leaks thanks to its exceptional chemical resistance.
