Cornelius keg or Soda Keg 9l

Enjoy a pleasant and warm moment around your homemade draft beer. Our  9L Soda Kegs, also known as Cornelius kegs, have been refurbished by the best experts in Europe. They are washed, disinfected, polished, tested, and delivered under pressure, they are like new.

The connections are made by the traditional ball-locks for gas and beer, making handling simple and intuitive. Putting your beer in a keg has never been easier and at a very affordable price.

How to fill a 9L Soda Keg?

To fill a 9L Soda Keg, start by cleaning and sterilizing the keg. Then, pour your beer through the top opening. Once the beer is in the keg, close it, proceed with carbonation, and connect it to your beer distribution system. Make sure the keg is well sealed to prevent any gas or beer leakage.

Dimensions and specifics of the 9L Soda Keg:

  • Max capacity: 9.45L
  • Connections: Ball-Lock
  • Diameter: 22.5cm
  • Height: 34.5cm

The benefits of the 9L Soda Keg?

The 9L Soda Keg has many advantages. It is easy to use, robust, and guarantees a high-quality beer. In addition, it is economical and environmentally friendly because it is infinitely reusable (provided it is well cleaned).

Its size is also a selling point. It easily fits into a domestic fridge, a simple pressure tap installation will suffice to draw your beer from the kitchen. Otherwise, it allows you to make small experimental brews or to bottle part of your brew and keep the other in a keg to avoid spending too much time on the bottling step.

Like with larger volumes of Soda Keg, there is no need to add sugar for carbonation. Connecting a CO2 cylinder makes it very easy.

And if I want to carbonate with sugar?

No problem! That being said, you should underdose compared to bottles, with a soda keg, so that the pressure draw is done without problems, there is a consensus not to exceed 4g/l of sugar.

How to clean a Soda Keg?

After fermentation (or before first use), it is recommended to wash the 9L Soda Keg with hot water using a sponge and neutral dish soap. For this, fill the Soda Keg halfway, scrub, close everything, and shake. You will then need to unscrew the connectors to clean them.

After a good rinse, fill the keg halfway with hot water and oxybrew (or star san), close and shake vigorously. You can then connect a CO2 cylinder with a little pressure to expel all the cleaner through the beer outlet (for this, you will need to connect a tap via the Ball-Lock). This will also clean the inside of the rod present at the beer outlet.

You can also help yourself with a FastWasher Rack.

Can we carry out a pressure fermentation with a 9L Soda Keg?

Absolutely, pressure fermentation is quite feasible with a 9L Soda Keg. This technique is even recommended for some beers, as it reduces fermentation time and optimizes beer quality. To learn more about pressure fermentation, check out the advice available in this article.

After a pressure fermentation, to fill the 9L Soda Keg, we recommend performing a counter-pressure transfer using the ball lock connectors and a CO2 cylinder.
