This American hop, introduced in France in the early 1990s, is the result of a cross between Brewer’s Gold and a male bittering hop. Its lineage also includes English varieties such as Early Green and Canterbury Golding. The sunny climate of southwestern France suits it well, contributing to its high alpha acid content.

Nugget is valued by brewers for its strong bittering power and distinctive aromatic profile, dominated by herbal, green, and vegetal notes. It is commonly used in American Ales, IPAs, and other hop-forward styles.

Its low beta acid and cohumulone content, combined with a high concentration of myrcene, gives it a clean bitterness and a bold, plant-like aroma.
