Description

SPECTRUM is an innovative and high-performance liquid hop extract. No oxidation, no Hop Creep, no beer loss, and excellent storage convenience.

Fully soluble, it faithfully reproduces the aromatic profiles specific to its original hop variety.

Made from 100% hops, with no solvents or artificial additives, it offers a safe and efficient alternative to T90 pellets:

- 1 kg of Spectrum equals 5 to 8 kg of pellets.

Free of vegetal matter, Spectrum leaves no solid residue in the fermenter — which greatly reduces cleaning operations.

Its formulation ensures excellent aromatic stability: the hop’s glycosidic fractions are fully preserved, promoting biotransformation reactions during dry hopping.

Its ideal use is during Dry Hop, in the secondary fermentation phase.

Note: the 1 kg format is resealable, making it perfectly suited for extended storage.

Spectrum Azacca

Azacca hops were developed in 2013 by the American Dwarf Hop Association. They originate from a cross between the Japanese hop Toyomidori and an unidentified variety, and are also descendants of Summit and Northern Brewer. The name honors the Haitian god of agriculture.

The Spectrum version of Azacca delivers bold pineapple aromas, complemented by notes of mango, orange, mandarin, and a touch of pine.

In terms of aroma profile, Azacca strikes a balance between the citrusy, resinous notes of American hops and the fruity, smooth character typical of New Zealand varieties.

It fits naturally into IPAs, Pale Ales, Lagers, and IPLs, and is also well-suited for Sour/Sour IPA and fruit beer styles.

Spectrum: The Dry Hop Revolution

Capture all alpha acids and aromatic compounds from hops without vegetal matter. Maximum efficiency and guaranteed yield…

SPECTRUM offers numerous advantages over hop cones and pellets.

Fully soluble at fermentation temperature, you’ll lose no beer and spend less time cleaning.

SPECTRUM can replace cones and pellets entirely or partially during Dry Hop.

Using Spectrum:

spectrum citra

1kg of Spectrum = between 5 and 8kg of pellets.

It’s perfectly possible to use Spectrum at 100%.

However, if you’re repeating well-calibrated recipes, Barth Haas recommends conducting tests and using 20% to 50% of your Dry Hop with standard hops, following the ratio shown above to adjust your dosage.

You can gradually shift toward full Spectrum usage.

As shown in the chart above, the optimal use of Spectrum is during secondary fermentation. The earlier you add it, the higher the dosage required and the more intense the fruity aromas. The later you add it, the lower the dosage and greener hop notes will be more prominent.

Note: This product is specifically designed for Dry Hop. Spectrum does not contain iso-alpha acids, but it does contain non-isomerized alpha acids which, in high doses at the end of the boil or in the whirlpool, can increase bitterness — especially in hazy beers where this is undesirable.

Storage:

Barth Haas recommends storing the product between 2°C and 15°C. A dedicated refrigerator is ideal.

The 1kg packaging is resealable; it’s recommended to purge the headspace before closing.

The manufacturer advises using the product within one year of its production date (indicated on the pouch).

Additional Benefits of Spectrum:

Brewery tests have shown a drastically reduced risk of Hop Creep compared to using T90 pellets. This is thanks to the absence of fermentation-reactivating enzymes.

The lack of solid material leaves far fewer residues on the walls of your fermenter — meaning less product and less time spent cleaning your equipment.

Finally, Spectrum also reduces the risk of oxidation in heavily hopped beers.

Unlike pellets and cones, this product leaves no room for oxygen. Spectrum guarantees precise Dry Hop dosing without oxygen exposure.

Testimonials:

“SPECTRUM helped us increase our dry hop inclusion rates while minimizing beer loss during the process. This combination allows us to produce world-class beers with world-class brewing efficiency.” — Ross Koenigs / New Belgium Brewing

“We saw lower and more consistent beer loss on the beers where we tested it. We’re very impressed with the aroma profile offered by Spectrum. We used it in up to 50% of the dry hop in one of our beers, which significantly reduced tank time thanks to reduced hop creep and lower VDK (Vicinal Diketones).” — SOPHIE DE RONDE / Burnt Mill Brewery
