Description

SPECTRUM is an innovative and high-performance liquid hop extract. No oxidation, no Hop Creep, no beer loss, and easy to store.

Fully soluble, it faithfully reproduces the aromatic profiles specific to its original variety.

Made from 100% hops, with no solvents or artificial additives, it offers an effective alternative to T90 pellets:

- 1kg of Spectrum equals 5 to 8kg of pellets.

Free of vegetal matter, Spectrum leaves no solid residue in the fermenter — which significantly reduces cleaning operations.

Its composition ensures remarkable aroma stability: the glycosidic fractions of the original hop variety are fully preserved, enabling the expected biotransformation reactions during dry hopping.

Its optimal use is during Dry Hop, in the secondary fermentation phase.

Additionally, the 1kg format is resealable, making it ideal for storage.

Spectrum Citra

Citra hops have been a flagship variety for over 15 years, now ranking among the ten most widely used hop varieties in the world.

Developed by Hop Breeding Company and released in 2007, Citra® stands out for its high myrcene content and bold aromas of grapefruit, lime, and tropical fruits. The Spectrum version faithfully reproduces the aromatic profile of T90 pellets.

Spectrum, the Dry Hop Revolution

Get all the alpha acids and aromatic compounds of hops without any vegetal matter. Maximum efficiency and guaranteed yield…

SPECTRUM offers numerous advantages over whole cones and hop pellets.

Fully soluble at fermentation temperature, it ensures no beer loss and less time spent cleaning.

SPECTRUM can fully or partially replace cones and pellets during Dry Hop.

Using Spectrum:

1kg of Spectrum = between 5kg and 8kg of pellets.

It is entirely possible to use Spectrum at 100%.

However, for repeatable recipes, Barth Haas recommends testing and using 20% to 50% of your Dry Hop with standard hops, adjusting dosage based on the ratio above.

You can gradually move toward full Spectrum usage.

As shown in the chart above, the ideal time to use Spectrum is during secondary fermentation. The earlier it's added, the higher the dose required — resulting in stronger fruity notes. The later it's used, the lighter the dose — revealing greener hop aromas.

Note: This product is specifically designed for Dry Hop. Spectrum does not contain iso-alpha acids, but does contain non-isomerized alpha acids that, in high doses at whirlpool or late boil, may increase bitterness — especially in hazy beers where it's undesired.

Storage:

Barth Haas recommends storing the product between 2°C and 15°C. A dedicated fridge is ideal.

The 1kg packaging is resealable; it's advised to purge the headspace before sealing.

The manufacturer recommends using the product within one year of its production date (marked on the pouch).

Additional Benefits of Spectrum:

Brewery trials show a significantly reduced risk of Hop Creep compared to using T90 pellets, thanks to the absence of enzymes that re-trigger fermentation.

No vegetal matter means far fewer residues on fermenter walls. You'll use less product and less time to clean your equipment.

Finally, Spectrum also reduces the risk of oxidation in heavily hopped beers.

Unlike pellets and cones, this product doesn’t allow oxygen ingress. Spectrum ensures precise Dry Hop dosing without oxygen exposure.

Testimonials:

“SPECTRUM helped us increase our dry hop inclusion rates while minimizing beer loss during the process. This combination allows us to craft world-class beer with world-class production efficiency.” — Ross Koenigs / New Belgium Brewing

“We observed lower and more consistent beer losses in batches where Spectrum was used. We're highly impressed by the aromatic profile it delivers. We’ve used it for up to 50% of the dry hop in one of our beers, resulting in shorter tank time thanks to reduced hop creep and lower VDK (Vicinal Diketones) levels.” — SOPHIE DE RONDE / Burnt Mill Brewery
