9L Cleaning Keg User Guide - 2 Heads

Upon receiving your keg, wash it with enzybrew. You can then use it to clean your beer lines.

We recommend using products specifically designed for line sanitation. "Desana" products will be perfect (Desanamax FP for regular cleaning, Desanacid for descaling, and Desanamax CL for intensive cleaning of your line).

Dosage: For 9 liters of water, use 2 packets (regardless of your "Desana" product).

Note: The extraction tubes for the keg couplers are not provided by the manufacturer by default, so you will need to obtain two. Even if you plan to use only Ball Lock fittings, they will be essential to keep the keg closed. It is best to have several types of tubes to adapt to the different models of couplers you may have.

Step 1: Pre-rinse

Before cleaning, thoroughly pre-rinse your beer dispensing system.

Fill the cleaning keg with clear water. Close it, connect it to your system (using the Ball Lock fittings or the extraction tubes (not included) connected to your keg couplers), connect the CO2, and let the water flow through the taps of your dispensers (or lines).

Step 2: Dissolve the cleaning product and take a sample

Pour the "Desana" packets of your choice into the cleaning keg and fill it with 9 liters of warm water (ideally at 35°C). The water jet should be enough to dissolve the detergent.

Close the keg and shake it vigorously 3 times. Then, take a small sample of the solution, which should be purple. This will serve as an indicator to show if the cleaning is complete or needs to be extended.

Step 3: Fill the lines

Clean and rinse your dispensing heads (and/or the Ball Lock connector you are using to connect the cleaning keg to your dispensing system) beforehand. Connect your cleaning keg to the CO2 and the system, turn it on and open the taps.

Once the cleaning solution flows from the taps, close them and let the chosen "Desana" work for 20 minutes.

The liquid will be yellow if your line is very dirty or green if it is only slightly dirty.

Step 4: Disinfect the dispensing head or connectors

While the "Desana" works in the lines, disconnect your CO2, depressurize the cleaning keg, and open it. Immerse your dispensing heads and/or connectors in the solution and wait for the 20 minutes to pass.

Step 5: Open the taps and check the color of the solution

Reconnect the cleaning keg to the dispensing heads and CO2. Open the taps to let your solution flow. If it turns green or remains green, close the taps and let it act for 3 more minutes.

Repeat the process until the solution turns purple (like your sample).

Once done, let the "Desana" flow until the keg is empty.

Step 6: Rinse

Disconnect your cleaning keg and rinse it thoroughly. To check if it is well rinsed, you can do a pH test with a simple strip. The pH should match the tap water.

Once the keg is rinsed, fill it and reconnect it to your dispensing system.

Open the taps and let the water flow until the keg is empty. In the last few centiliters, you can do a pH test to check that the water coming out of your line matches the tap water pH.
