Using the Carbonation Lid

Nothing is more refreshing than having your own sparkling water straight from the tap at home. KegLand has invented this very easy-to-use lid that attaches to a standard sodakeg. You can use one of our 18L or 9L kegs.

All you need to do is:

1. Place the keg inside your fridge, kegerator, cold room, or any cold place (ideally below 5°C).

2. Attach the dispensing tap of your choice to the sparkling water outpost.

3. Connect your gas to the gas post.

4. Set your CO2 regulator connected to the gas post to 30-50 psi. Higher pressures will give you more carbonation, so adjust your regulator pressure to achieve the desired carbonation level.

NOTE: It is recommended to use a check valve in your CO2 line. We recommend this check valve.

5. The first time you use this device, it is a good idea to purge the air from the keg's headspace. To do this, pull the PRV on the keg lid about 5 times for 2 seconds each.

6. Connect the mains water to the water inlet located on the keg lid. We recommend using a check valve for this application to prevent sparkling water from flowing back into your home’s water system. It is also a good idea to reduce the pressure of your mains water. Most domestic mains water pressures are above 100 psi. For this device to work well, the mains water pressure must be 10-15 psi higher than the pressure set on your regulator (from step 4).

That’s it. This simple unit will provide continuous sparkling water connected to your tap water. Perfect for a café bar, restaurant, or simply at home.

It can carbonate 10 liters per hour if you have enough capacity to chill the water. The colder the water and the higher the gas pressure (from step 4), the higher the level of carbonation.
