It's Autumn, Control Your Heating!
Yes, the temperatures are cooling down!
If you don't control your temperature, the kveik probably saved your life this summer. Now, it's going to be a bit too cold for these magnificent little creatures.
In fact, it's going to start getting too cold for any strain...
Unlike summer, you won't risk stressing your yeast and ending up with off-flavors.
How is that great?! Not at all, quite the opposite!
With the cold, your yeast will go dormant. Basically, they'll take a break.
The density won't change anymore and you'll bottle thinking your fermentation is complete. But, like the Pyrenean bear, your yeast is just hibernating. Beware of the beast's awakening!
Incomplete fermentation + bottling sugar and you've become a true homemade bomb maker... A whole batch wasted and glass scattered everywhere.
Equip Yourself at Low Cost!
Temperature control is an essential element for successful fermentation. Ideally, having a fridge converted into a fermentation chamber is best, but it requires space, DIY skills, and a certain budget.
But, it's autumn, and falling temperatures are not a fatality! The cold can even become your ally because you won't need a fridge!
Equipping yourself to control only the heating element is much simpler and less expensive (in money and space).
Many of us started temperature control this way, and the quality of our brews has increased tenfold! After all, from October to May, unless you want to make a lager or a cold crash, you won't fundamentally need to cool your beer. It's better, of course, but you'll still produce excellent beer.
Thanks to the "Chauffe Marcel" pack, prevent your yeast from sleeping and maintain a stable temperature, ensuring good fermentation of your beer!
The pack contains:
- An Ink-Bird temperature controller: easily program the ideal temperature and let the beast do its job! In theory, it sends cold when it's too hot and heat when it's too cold. Here, you'll only connect your heating element.
- A heating pad: plug it into your Ink-Bird and simply place it under your 12.5 or 20-liter fermentation bucket.
- A perforated stopper with a thermowell*: the removable rod will be in your beer. You just have to insert the probe of your Ink-Bird directly into it to take your temperature at the heart of the liquid and be as precise as possible. The stopper is equipped with two holes, one for the rod and the other for the airlock.
*The stopper has a dimension of 26/32mm, so you'll need to drill a hole in the lid of your fermentation bucket that is between 26 and 32mm. You can also remove the gasket and enlarge the existing hole for the airlock.
