Soda Keg 9L
The Soda Keg 9L is an essential piece of equipment for brewers wishing to serve their beer on tap easily. Equipped with a depressurization valve, it offers the possibility to control the final residual pressure, particularly during forced carbonation. It can also be used for fermentation. The Soda Keg 9Ls are sold passivated, giving them a matte finish and enhanced protection against corrosion.
Connections are made via the traditional gas and beer ball-locks, making handling extremely simple and intuitive. Putting your beer in a keg has never been easier. Our Soda Keg 9L is sold complete with the lid, dip tubes, and male fittings. The Ball-lock connectors are, however, not provided. You can find them as a related product at the end of the description.
If you hear about Cornelius Keg in English brewing articles, don't look any further, it's just another name for the 9L soda keg!
Dimensions and specifications of the Soda keg 9L:
- Maximum capacity: 9.45L
- Fittings: Ball-Lock
- Diameter: 22.5cm
- Height: 34.5cm
How to fill a soda keg 9L?
To fill your Soda Keg 9L, start by cleaning and disinfecting the keg. Then, pour your beer through the opening at the top of the keg. Once the beer is poured, close the keg, carbonate it, and connect it to your beer distribution system. It is crucial to check that the keg is well sealed to prevent any possible gas or beer leakage.
What are the advantages of a soda keg 9L?
The Soda Keg 9L offers a multitude of benefits. It is easy to use, durable, and ensures excellent quality beer. Moreover, it is both economical and environmentally friendly thanks to its infinite reusability (provided it is properly cleaned).
Its compact format is a major asset. It can be easily stored in a domestic refrigerator, and the installation of a simple pressure tap allows you to serve your beer directly from your kitchen. In addition, it is ideal for making small experimental brews or for dividing your brew between bottles and keg, saving time during the bottling stage.
Just like for larger capacity Soda Kegs, it is not necessary to add sugar for carbonation. A simple connection to a CO2 cylinder is enough to carry out this operation with ease.
And if I want to carbonate with sugar?
No problem! However, you should underdose compared to bottles, with a soda keg, so that the pressure draw is done without problems, there is a consensus not to exceed 4g/l of sugar.
How to clean a Soda Keg?
The Soda Keg 9Ls we sell are manufactured using an automated orbital welding machine, which minimizes weld marks and facilitates cleaning.
After fermentation (or before first use), it is recommended to clean the keg with hot water, a sponge, and neutral detergent. To do this, fill the Soda Keg halfway, scrub, close, and shake. You will then need to disassemble the fittings to clean them.
After thorough rinsing, fill the keg halfway with hot water and oxybrew (or star san), close, and shake vigorously. It is then possible to connect a CO2 cylinder with a slight pressure to evacuate all the cleaning product through the beer outlet (for this, you will need to connect a tap via the Ball-Lock). This will also clean the inside of the rod at the beer outlet.
You can also use a FastWasher Rack.
Can you do a pressure fermentation with a Soda Keg?
Indeed, it is quite possible to do a pressure fermentation with a Soda Keg. This method is even recommended for some beers, as it reduces fermentation time and improves beer quality. For more information on pressure fermentation, feel free to consult the advice available in this article.
After a pressure fermentation, to fill the soda keg, we recommend doing a pressure transfer using the ball lock connectors and a CO2 cylinder.
