Originating from Germany, Mandarina Bavaria hops is an aromatic hop that was developed in 2012 thanks to the work of the Hüll Hop Research Institute. It comes from the crossbreeding of Cascade (US), Hallertau Blanc, and Hüll Melon hops.
Mandarina Bavaria hops is characterized by a mild bitterness and fruity, citrusy, floral, and slightly spicy aromas. In dry hopping, it mainly releases sweet notes of tangerine and lemon.
It is frequently used for American-style beers, such as IPAs, pale ales, and wheat ales. It can also be adapted to Belgian-style beers, such as saisons, blondes, and triples.
