Azacca Hops:

azacca hops

The Azacca hop is a dual-purpose hop variety originating in the United States. It was created in 2013 by the American Dwarf Hop Association. It is the result of a cross between the Japanese hop Toyomidori and an unknown variety. It is also a descendant of the Summit and Northern Brewer varieties. Its name comes from the Haitian god of agriculture.

The Azacca hop brings a sharp bitterness and fruity, tropical, citrus and resinous aromas. Used at the end of boiling, in Whirlpool or in Dry Hop it will mainly bring notes of mango, pineapple, orange and mandarin, as well as touches of pine.

Beware, it is true that its subtle aromas can be crushed by the presence of other hops, but, well dosed its aromatic complexity will bring a unique cachet to the beer. It will therefore be very interesting to use it in single hop, or to give it the main role in any type of beer where the hoppy aroma is sought. Don't be afraid, be bold and test it in different proportions!

From an aromatic point of view, the Azacca hop is the perfect mix of the citrus, resinous side of American hops and the fruity and sweet aromas of New Zealand hops.

It is often used for IPAs, pale ales, lagers or IPLs. It can also suit sour/sour ipa and fruit beer styles. It will be great in SMASH (Single Malt And Single Hop).
