Leaf Hops Saaz
Profile: Floral, citrus, spicy, herbal
Saaz Hops:
The Saaz hops are an aromatic hop variety originating from the Czech Republic. They have been cultivated since the 13th century in the Žatec region, which gave them their name. They are one of the four noble hop varieties, along with Hallertau, Tettnang and Spalt.
The Saaz hops provide a fine bitterness and spicy, floral, minty, herbal, citrusy and earthy aromas. They are widely used for pilsner-style beers, such as the famous Pilsner Urquell, but also for northern European lagers, traditional ales, saisons or wheat beers.
They are often combined with other noble hop varieties, such as Hallertau or Tettnang, to create balanced and refined beers.
