Citra Hops:

citra hops

Citra hops in cone is a versatile variety born in the United States. It was created by Gene Probasco of the hop breeding company in the 1990s. After successfully passing tests by renowned breweries, including Sierra Nevada, it was officially introduced and distributed in 2008. This hop is the result of a cross between several varieties: Hallertau Mittelfrüh, Tettnanger (US), Brewer’s Gold, and East Kent Golding.

Citra hops in cone gets its name from its strong lemony character, attributed to its high Myrcene content.

This variety is known for its robust bitterness and aromas of citrus and tropical fruits. When used at the end of the boil, in hopstand, or in Dry Hop, it primarily releases notes of grapefruit, lemon, ripe mango, and pineapple. You can also perceive more vivid flavors of currants, blackberries, and gooseberries.
