The best of our beer hops
In this category you'll find all our beer hops online. Whether you simply want to bitter your brew, or bring out the citrus of citra hops, today more than ever, hop growing has a central place in the brewing world.
The aromatic beer hops
Explosive or subtle, the aromatic palette of hops is extremely broad. Treat yourself to a bouquet of an hops beer garden, while highlighting (in a good farmhouse, for example) the noble, spicy expression of saaz hops. Do you prefer fruit ? Then accentuate that side with cascade hops. In short, there are very few limits to the expression of your creativity.
Pellet or leaf ?
In reality, this choice has no impact on the taste quality of the hops. Both have their advantages and disadvantages in use. For an automatic tank, the cone will be practical for reducing the risk of clogging the pumps, but it will also absorb more water. For a dry hop fermenter, pellets are more advantageous for sedimentation. They also take up much less space. It's up to you to decide what you want. Hop growing is vast enough to meet your needs!
Bittering beer hops
Barley and hops are like yin and yang, in that they complement each other. The bittering counterpoint provided by a good bittering hop with a high alpha acid content will balance the sugar provided by the barley malt. This type of hop is only used for boiling, and leaves very little hop aroma. The big advantages of this type of hop are that it's fairly inexpensive, and you don't need to use tons to achieve the desired result. In any case, making a beer without bittering hops could prove perilous for the taste balance of your potion.Â
Which bittering hops to choose?
As we've said, bittering hops leave no aroma in the beer, as their aromatic compounds evaporate during boiling. So there are certain criteria to take into account when choosing your bittering hops.
Alpha Acids
Alpha acids are the essential oils in hop flowers that give beer its bitterness. They range from 2 to 18%, and the higher the level, the greater the bittering potential. You'll need less botanicals with a high alpha acid content.
Price
Don't ruin yourself, choose a hop that doesn't have good aromatic potential and is inexpensive (Target or Magnum, for example). Don't spoil the good aroma of a citra hop by bittering. Even if its alpha acid content is high, this is an expensive hop with such aromatic potential that it would be a shame to spoil it.
Cryo Hops
Are you a fan of hop bombs and want to put whole hop fields in your IPA? Cryo is the perfect choice! The essential oils are ultra-concentrated here and stripped of most of their plant matter. Admittedly, this type of hop is best reserved for experienced brewers. If you're one of them, then this hop, with its enormous aromatic potential, avoids the risk of oxidation, the bane of very hoppy IPAs.
